Course Information

One of the subjects that the IT National Diploma covers is Expert Systems.

Expert systems use human knowledge to solve problems that usually would require human intelligence. The system follows a set of pacific rules and with the input of the human knowledge and data with the click of a button the system can automatically work out the problem. For the data input a professional for example a doctor must be used, books contain knowledge but it takes a human to interpret the knowledge before it can be used.

This subject also looks at Neural Networks

Neural networks are brain-like computers which consist of many processors working along side each other. All the different segments are connected by a network so all the results from each segment can be combined together. This allows the computer to link facts together to form a suitable conclusion and even, use the data to form patterns which can explain or reason an outcome.

Some examples of work done for this course is shown on the right:

Robot Timeline- here we researched into popular robots and new invetions from the last couple of years.

Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems- produced a presentation explaining about the two subjcets, for the aim of deciding if artificial intelligence is the future and how effect the people around us.

IRobot presentation- Here we were given the option to pick a film that used robots as a theme, i chose IRobot. I looked at the way that robots are compared to humans.
